Pedro and Sara Quintero are planting more than a church—they’re launching a movement to reach the growing Hispanic community in Hampton Roads. With a heart for Ocean View in Norfolk and a vision for multiplying healthy, Spanish-speaking churches, they’re building Iglesia Mision Global and laying the groundwork for a residency that raises up future Hispanic leaders. Backed by Multiply and driven by deep conviction, their pathway is bold, strategic, and urgently needed—and now is the time to help it grow.

A Young Leader with a Calling

Pedro Quintero is not just stepping into ministry—he’s stepping into a legacy of hope for a people group often overlooked in American church culture. As a 21-year-old pastoral resident living in Norfolk, Virginia, Pedro is on the frontlines of what could become a catalytic movement among Hispanic communities in the Hampton Roads region.

Alongside his wife, Sara, Pedro has spent the last few years nurturing a small but growing network of Spanish-speaking believers. Through Bible studies, home groups, and relational ministry, he has created a family-like environment for people who often feel isolated due to language, legal status, or cultural barriers.

Pedro’s journey—from Colombia to Virginia, from youth group volunteer to emerging church planter—has been marked by obedience and vision. He’s not simply planting a church; he’s pioneering a new expression of church for a new generation of Hispanics seeking belonging, spiritual depth, and purpose.

Training, Time, and Cultural Navigation

Despite Pedro’s evident passion and the strong foundation he’s already laid, the road to a sustainable church plant is filled with complex challenges.

One of the most immediate needs is continued time in residency to gain hands-on experience. Leading a launch team, casting vision, managing conflict, and handling spiritual care are all skills that require mentorship and development. Pedro is self-aware—he knows that gifting alone isn’t enough. He’s hungry to grow in wisdom, strategy, and pastoral maturity.

Doctrinal depth is another area where development is needed. Pedro’s pursuit of formal theological training—through Bible college or seminary—is not just about credentials. It’s about ensuring that Iglesia Mision Global will be grounded in the truth of Scripture and capable of discipling people toward lasting faith in a region filled with religious pluralism and spiritual confusion.

Culturally, the Hispanic population in Hampton Roads is anything but monolithic. It includes first-generation immigrants, second-generation bilinguals, and a wide variety of national backgrounds—Colombian, Puerto Rican, Mexican, Salvadoran, and more. Pedro must learn to navigate these cultural layers with pastoral wisdom and humility, ensuring the church is truly inclusive and representative of the broader Hispanic experience.

Pathway of Support and Strategic Investment

Multiply has become more than a resource for Pedro—it’s become family. From the earliest stages of his discernment process to now being embedded in a pastoral residency, Multiply has walked with Pedro every step of the way.

Through Multiply’s residency program, Pedro has gained access to a robust cohort of fellow church planters and mentors who understand both the theology and the real-world grit of planting. He’s been equipped with tools for team-building, financial stewardship, cultural exegesis, and vision casting. Importantly, Multiply hasn’t just trained Pedro—it’s invested in his unique context, customizing support to fit the challenges and opportunities of Hispanic ministry in southeastern Virginia.

Pedro has also been introduced to a broader network of Hispanic pastors, planters, and movement leaders who offer contextual insight and peer support. This network has helped him not only clarify his mission, but also build confidence as a young leader who once questioned whether he was “ready” to plant.

Multiply has helped Pedro see that readiness isn’t about having every answer—it’s about walking closely with Jesus, investing in people, and trusting the Holy Spirit to build what we can only imagine.the mission, we could empower a new wave of discipleship in one of Rwanda’s most underserved areas.

Rooting Now, Releasing Later

Pedro’s ultimate goal is clear: officially launch Iglesia Mision Global within the next year. What began as a network of small groups and relational connections is steadily maturing into a cohesive, worshiping community with a shared vision.

The next season will focus on strengthening his core team, developing leadership pipelines, and establishing rhythms of discipleship that will define the culture of the church. Pedro will also pursue formal theological education during this phase, either through seminary or a Multiply-supported Bible training institute tailored to church planters.

But Pedro’s vision stretches beyond one church.

With Multiply’s guidance, he hopes to establish a Spanish-language church planter residency program within the next 3–5 years. This initiative would train and deploy Hispanic leaders from within the church—leaders who understand the language, stories, and struggles of their communities.

Pedro also plans to continue building relational bridges with other local pastors and organizations doing Hispanic outreach, laying the groundwork for collaborative kingdom impact across all of Hampton Roads.ere.

Without Support, the Movement Stalls

Without the support of partners like Multiply—and others who come alongside financially and relationally—Pedro’s vision could remain unrealized or be significantly delayed.

The risk is twofold: burnout and fragmentation. Pedro could exhaust himself trying to lead a full-time ministry while working other jobs to stay afloat, ultimately limiting his capacity to pastor well. At the same time, the lack of strong theological and cultural formation could result in a church that struggles to hold together across seasons of growth and tension.

Moreover, without a broader support structure, Pedro risks missing the opportunity to multiply leaders—leading to a siloed church rather than a sending one.

In short, what is now a budding movement could shrink back into a single, fragile expression if not resourced well.

A Movement Begins

Imagine this: by 2027, Iglesia Mision Global is not just established—it’s thriving. The church is a beacon for the Ocean View community, offering vibrant worship, deep discipleship, and holistic care for Hispanic families navigating the challenges of life in the U.S.

Pedro is pastoring with wisdom and joy. He’s surrounded by a team of empowered local leaders. Families are coming to faith, teenagers are being mentored, and the broken are finding hope and healing.

But it doesn’t stop there.

The church has launched a residency for Hispanic planters. New churches are taking root across Hampton Roads. Leaders from within the community are stepping into their callings with boldness and clarity.

Pedro and Sara are still there—pouring out their lives, training leaders, and celebrating the fact that what once felt like a small seed has become a Gospel movement.

This is the vision. This is the future. And it’s already beginning.
