My name is Katie Dininny, Executive Asst to the Leadership Team at Ocean View Christian Academy. I’m joined by my husband of now 20 years! He is the Executive Director of the [Multiply] Family of Churches, Aaron Dininny.

Here at Behind Open Doors, we want to help you multiply your disciple-making efforts…about things that matter.
Today we want to tackle a difficult subject that we have worked hard at over the years. Money. You’ve heard stats about how many marriages fail bc of arguments or not seeing eye to eye on money. (50% divorce rate with $ being in the top 3 of reasons) We’ve had a lot of “discussions” over the years about money, many have been difficult, not seeing eye to eye at first, but we have found a good rhythm as we have gotten older.
We don’t want this to be just our story, but we want to relate our story to the principles that we have followed or realized over time. So, we’re going to give you the principles up front, then talk about them.
- Decide EARLY what your family/household philosophy of generosity will be
- Develop a household financial system (spreadsheet, bill pay, regular accountability, allowances)
- Devote time to talk openly about finances, putting feelings and pride aside for one another
- Dream together OFTEN (Single: write down dreams, goals, desires)
Discover someone outside the household to get feedback, hear ideas, make sure you’re not crazy
